About the Coffee
This lovely coffee from the Asociación De Productores De Café Especial La Orquídea – ASOPROCAFEES for short – is back again for another year! This cooperative and quality control lab is located smack dab in the middle of the Central Andes Mountains in the town of Planadas, but the coffees that make up these larger lots are grown and processed on small organic-certified farms at high elevations of 1,400 - 2,000 MASL in different parts of the Tolima region of Colombia. This coffee is usually processed right on the farms where it was grown, and then loaded up and trucked in the parchment to the receiving point. Here the coffees are received by a quality control team who have high standards of what they accept, knowing that the coffees they buy will be making up larger lots that will be exported to roasters like us.

Back in November of 2022, a few of us from Anodyne were lucky enough to travel to Colombia to meet some of the managers and producers that form the cooperative, and see for ourselves how organized and efficient this team is. This organization was created in 2014 and has continued to grow exponentially with hard work from contributing members and from leaders like William Mendozae – one of the founders of the organization – who works with these small-scale growers, helping them to better their growing practices, and in turn guaranteeing them a good price for their hard work. The lot itself is a collection of fully washed coffees that come together to form a sweet, juicy, and vibrant profile.
