This coffee comes from a farming community that borders Virunga National Park on the Congo side of the Rwenzori mountain; a mountain region that borders Congo, Rwanda, and Uganda. Along the western ridge of the Rwenzori mountains is Kawa Kanzururu, which is a relatively new co-op with a network of 24 micro mills. They are working hard to bring the local people together to push Congolese coffee into major supply chains in Africa and creating new opportunities for them along the way. Supporting coffee growers in the Democratic Republic of the Congo helps provide the local people with a predictable source of income and job security. The coffee is fully washed and dried in the sun, grown at elevations between 1,000 - 2,000 MASL, and is made up of blue mountain and rumangabo varieties.
