The Sigri Estate is located in the Wahgi Valley of the Western Highlands Province in Papua New Guinea – a highly cultivated area of the country where many people live alongside farms and other urban settlements. This peaberry coffee was produced with very high quality picking, processing, sorting, and control measures in place. The owners of the Estate provide housing, schooling, healthcare, and social programs all for free for their workers. They also have very high standards for soil and water conservation, and they use a shade growing strategy that provides habitat for at least 90 species of birds. The coffee is pulped on the same day of picking, fully washed after a very thorough fermentation process, and then dried in the sun on raised beds.
