About the Coffee
The Huke Washing Station is located in the highlands of the Gedeo region. Local landrace varieties are grown here, which can be traced back centuries. 300 smallholder farmers from the surrounding mountains maintain as few as 90 trees on roughly a half hectare of land, and transport their coffee cherry – sometimes on foot – to the washing station. The people of Worka continue to develop relationships with farmers at higher elevations. They are implementing lot separation to further refine quality and highlight the unique flavor profiles that we've come to expect from Yirgacheffe.
